about me
I was born 3 days and 7 years after Jimi Hendrix joined the great beyond and no you should not call me old, I prefer vintage or classic.
I'm a product of the Institute of Fine Arts and Design of The Philippine Women's University. I majored in Industrial Design but was unable to practice it and eventually found myself (mal)practicing advertising and graphic design. If there is one thing I'm proud of, it's my ability and talent to still draw manually and this is how I plot most of my work.
I look to Piet Mondrian, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, H.R. Giger, Jack Kirby, Alex Ross and Team Manila for inspiration.
Oh, I also hate working with a graphic tablet, even if it's a Wacom...ok I'll probably take an exception if it's a Cintiq.
I'm also a musician, mainly squeezing and battering the neck of a six-stringed instrument called the guitar but can also manhandle the drums and mess around with DAWs (digital audio workstation) and with my dearly departed Boss DR-5 Dr. Rhythm.
I damage my ears by listening to Fear Factory, nine inch nails/Trent Reznor, Ministry and whatever my musical flavour of the month is and credit Jimi Hendrix, Tony Iommi and Randy Rhoads as my six-stringed saviours.
for years, i have preferred any form of tangible media over the intangible media the digitized world presents. this applies both to my graphic design and music. though not very recent, but my acceptance of computer based graphic design and music made of 0s and 1s emerged at the same time as technology started to surge. this is where and how i put my personal philosophy and motto of being AN ANALOGUE SOUL IN A DIGITAL WORLD into use - the fusion of the old and the new.
